As the reference standard for bass reproduction, the Digital Drive-Series uses a patented, digital high-gain servo for minimal distortion along with highly sophisticated DSP control. Velodyne's THX Ultra2 Certified DD-18 powered subwoofer has a built-in 'Class D' amplifier that provides a staggering 1,250 watts RMS and 3,000 watts peak power. The patented Energy Recovery System (ERS) amplifier runs at an incredible 97% efficiency, recovering lost energy not used by the voice coil for a truly eco-friendly design. The 18" forward firing Kevlar-reinforced resin driver has a 15.2" piston diameter, 3" push-pull tandem voice coil, and 24 lb. magnet structure. The cone is incredibly light and stiff for fast, accurate, rock bottom bass response. Special hole patterns eliminate resonance in the cone and keeps the servo system stable. The DD-18 includes Velodyne's revolutionary Digital Drive room management software that works with the included microphone to optimize performance for any room position. Inputs include RCA and XLR LFE, line-level RCA, and speaker level binding posts. A full-featured wireless remote comes standard. The voice coil, magnet, and cone make up the 'drive train' of any subwoofer, and Digital Drive-Series subs us massive, uncompromising, and highly engineered driver elements. The 'dual tandem' voice coil, which is 3" in diameter and over 6" in length, provides 1-3/4" maximum cone travel with very little distortion. The huge 19.3 lb. magnet structure provides plenty of muscle to handle even the most demanding bass passages.
